The Pottery Factory and The Pot Maker

Been making pots since 1961. Can you imagine that? Was it by fate or was it by choice? I failed to ask. But one thing for sure, it takes a tremendous amount of dedication in order to do something for decades.

Everything will start with a certain amount of mud. What I notice was, they mushed the mud so hard before putting it to the “spinning table”. Then a certain amount of pressure will be applied to dig a hole at the center of the mud.

Bell Tower

Bell Tower of Santuario de Nuestra Senora de Caridad, St. Augustine Parish – One of the places to visit in Vigan. To go there, just ride a “Kalesa” or “tricycle” from your hotel. Travel time is approximately 5-10 minutes from Calle Crisologo.

At first glance, there’s nothing to do here really. My initial reaction was, the tower is not that tall nor that elegant compare to other towers I’ve seen on the internet.

Light my Bell

But I was wrong. Built 1591 – 1592 as the “bell” of the church and served as the watchtower of the town, it must be something special. On top, you will see the whole town of Vigan.
